Rotary Torque Sensors
Rotary torque sensors are used to measure twisting and turning forces.
This force can be applied either clockwise or anti-clockwise. The rotary torque sensor converts the torsional mechanical inputs into electrical outputs.
Rotary torque sensors are relatively small in size but are very powerful and a vital component in many applications. They often use strain gauges to measure the force, strain gauges convert the strain applied into measurable electrical output.
Rotary torque sensors are part of our product range at Ixthus. Take a look at our Rotary Torque Sensors here.
Rotary Torque Sensor Uses
Rotary Torque Sensors are used throughout many industries for applications such as;
- Applications in engine test benches
- Determining friction torque
- Measuring friction torque
- Screwing technology
- Measuring drag torque
- Test setups for precision mechanics
- Measuring the tightening force on power tools
- Tool testing
- Auditing processes
- Quality or auditing equipment
Different types of Torque Sensors
Rotary Torque Sensors are used to measure different types of torque. The two most common types of torque are Dynamic Torque and Static Torque.
Dynamic Torque Sensors - Dynamic Torque Sensors can be contacting or non contacting. They are used for applications where measurement is required on larger scales. Non-contacting torque sensors can provide accurate information and often have a longer operational life as there are no wearing parts.
Static Torque Sensors - Static torque sensors are used in applications where measurement of smaller movements is required. Fatigue testing is a common application for static torque sensors.
Rotary Torque Sensors from Ixthus
We have a range of Rotary Torque Sensors from our suppliers NCTE and Burster. We can offer static or dynamic torque transducers measuring torque in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.
Take a look at the Torque section of our website for more information.
Our dynamic torque transducers offer reliable accurate measurement using slip ring technology and other non-contacting technology. Our static torque transducers are available with socket drive or keyed shafts for easy installation into your application.
